Under Wendt’s leadership, north.io has become a trusted partner for offshore wind energy, hydrography, offshore surveying, marine infrastructure, oil and gas, and public authorities, supporting mission-critical operations that rely on data accuracy, scalability, and interoperability. Originally built for industrial and commercial use cases, north.io’s technology has proven its dual-use potential within the European defence sector.
Frithjof Hennemann is the co-founder and co-CEO of north.io. Frithjof has a passion for the ocean and the environment, and he is committed to helping preserve and protect it. He has a degree in law (second state examination) from the Freestate of Bavaria / Germany (2003) and holds an MBA from TiasNIMBAS (2008).
Prior to founding north.io alongside Jann Wendt, he worked as Managing Director in several positions in the marine industry. After seeing the potential of ocean data, Frithjof decided to create a platform that could make this data more available and meaningful. Frithjof continues to lead the company in its mission to provide the world with easy access to geodata.
Stefan Marx is the CEO and founder of SubCtech, a leading company in ocean monitoring and subsea power systems. With a background in applied physics and ocean engineering, Stefan’s career spans over three decades in the maritime sector. From his early days in the German Navy in 1983 to pioneering innovations in offshore monitoring and energy systems, Stefan’s dedication to ocean technologies is evident.
In 2010, he founded SubCtech to address the growing needs in subsea energy systems. Under his leadership, SubCtech has become a key player in subsea oil and gas and vehicle technologies. Stefan is also deeply involved in social causes, including historic preservation and refugee support.
